This morning, I kind-of freaked out when the H key in my laptop keyboard partially popped up. Give me a desktop PC keyboard to clean any day, although most of the time I end up buying a new one instead.
I had a chat with HP Online Chat Support, and they gave me a site that could help me with my problem.
Referring to the online help guide, I pulled out the J key to see how the retainers are assembled. I don't know how it works with other laptops, but with this laptop I'm using, I have to carefully pull the key from the upper part so that the key retainers will not pop out along with the cap.
There are 2 retainers, and both of them has a small number on it. I attached the 2 retainers first before placing it back on the keyboard. On the smaller retainer, there is a small node on each side. It latches into the larger retainer.
I noticed that the number code in the larger retainer is upside down, while on the smaller retainer, it's right side up.
After combining the 2 retainers, I placed the lower part first then carefully placed the upper left latch and upper right latch.
I heard a soft click when I carefully placed the H key cap.
