Enjoying Sims 2, Three Years After

A few years ago, my husband gave me The Sims 2 (just the basic game) as a gift. Back then, I had a crappy PC (very low memory, only 256mb) so I wasn't able to enjoy playing it. Memory cards were so expensive, the only one I can afford were 512mb cards.

Now, both PCs at home have 1GB memory. We're able to enjoy the games with high requirements. I'm thinking of upgrading my video card as well, but that would mean I would also have to upgrade my motherboard.

Fixing My HP Pavillion DV2004TU Laptop Keyboard

This morning, I kind-of freaked out when the H key in my laptop keyboard partially popped up. Give me a desktop PC keyboard to clean any day, although most of the time I end up buying a new one instead.

I had a chat with HP Online Chat Support, and they gave me a site that could help me with my problem.

Referring to the online help guide, I pulled out the J key to see how the retainers are assembled. I don't know how it works with other laptops, but with this laptop I'm using, I have to carefully pull the key from the upper part so that the key retainers will not pop out along with the cap.

There are 2 retainers, and both of them has a small number on it. I attached the 2 retainers first before placing it back on the keyboard. On the smaller retainer, there is a small node on each side. It latches into the larger retainer.

I noticed that the number code in the larger retainer is upside down, while on the smaller retainer, it's right side up.

After combining the 2 retainers, I placed the lower part first then carefully placed the upper left latch and upper right latch.

I heard a soft click when I carefully placed the H key cap.

Blogger Table of Contents by Hans

Last 12th of April 2007, Hans of Beautiful Beta released a widget for Blogger that would enable a table of content listing on Blogger templates. I integrated the widget today and I am currently making some personal revisions.

My initial changes made for today:
1] sidebar link consistency
2] initial css table styling

Next on my agenda: I was supposed to integrate DIV tags, it seems by doing so I have to rehash the entire js file (LOL!). I'll be making some cosmetic changes instead.

What is your color?

The Aristocrats

I have first heard The Aristocrats joke in Comedy Central/Friars Club roast of Hugh Hefner by Gilbert Gottfried.

This off-colorjoke is often told in impromptu and never told the same way twice.

The Aristocrats joke comes in 3 parts, and starts (the setup) with a man promoting his act in a talent agency, usually starting of with "a man walks into a talent agent's office". The second part (the act) describes the group act which involves various actions that are considered taboo such as incest, bestiality, pedophilia and defecation. The third and final part (the punchline) ends the joke when the curiously shocked talent agent asks what the act is called, and the proud answer would be "The Aristocrats!".

The Aristocrats has been a lingering joke between expert comedians since the early 1900's, and if as a game they try to top each other out in terms of shock value.

Random Description in Blogger

My Blogger site has a header description that generates random quotes and is located beneath the header itself, just as it was in the original Minima template. I tweaked a few things: removed the blogger tag that generates the static header description and replaced it with an HTML Blogger Page Element, then made the css font type and color that matches the header itself.

I made use of Douglas Bowman's Minima Blogger Template to come up with my current blogger template.

Live-action Lupin in Production in the Philippines

I got this news from Anime News Network (posted on 2007-03-18 01:45 EDT):

An interview in the Manila Bulletin reveals that GMA-7, the Philippines' leading TV network, is developing a live-action TV series based on the Lupin the Third anime. Richard Gutierrez will play Lupin, while singer and actor Janno Gibbs is slated for the role of Inspector Zenigata.

There were mixed reactions regarding this upcoming production in ANN's forums.

In my opinion, we just have to wait and see. I just hope GMA's live action version won't make a shameful spectacle out of it.

Update

I have confirmed recently that the Philippine TV series Lupin is NOT based on Lupin III, an anime spinoff from the Leblanc character.
The Japanese made an anime based on that, and you know, medyo iba ‘yung names, iba ‘yung supporting characters, and it’s much more comedic, much more fantastic, explains Direk Mike Tuviera (The Promise, 2007; Atlantika, 2006-2007).

Is Piracy OK if the Property isn’t Intellectual?

Written by Ernesto on March 17, 2007.

It is doubtful that the term “intellectual property” is still applicable to the majority of the Hollywood productions, especially the intellectual part. So, is piracy still intellectual property theft if the property is not a product of the intellect? Great cartoon by Clay Bennett.
